On Norway's Veterans Day, 8 May, eleven wounded Ukrainian veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war ran alongside Norwegian veterans in an international commemorative race in Oslo.
Among the participants: fighters who suffered severe combat injuries and are still undergoing rehabilitation. Some covered the full 10-kilometre route on prosthetics. Some on crutches. The course ran from Veteran House to the medieval Akershus Fortress — a defining symbol of Norwegian resistance. For each of them, this race was more than a distance. It was a symbol of endurance, recovery, and solidarity between veterans of different nations.
After crossing the finish line, the delegation took part in a formal commemorative ceremony.
The event is part of an international veteran rehabilitation programme implemented by Charity Organisation «Vesna!» and Veteranska Desiatka Foundation in partnership with Norwegian organisations. 🏃 Together — stronger. 💛💙
